Is anybody using these? I just started and it seems like they take a while to actually get listed, but it's gotten me a little bit of traffic.

Tried the Technorati thing. Hasn't worked for listings, but I might be missing something (and I'm not using traditional blogging software)

It's often hard to tell. One week, my blog will work perfectly with Technorati. I can find every post and lots of inbound links. Then, for a week, I'll get nothing. I won't even find my own post in the tag search. The software is very much unpredictable.

I think the problem's in the pings. I'm using Movable Type, which supposedly pings Technorati automatically based on a configuration setting... however I find that my tags won't appear reliably on Technorati unless I use the manual ping form.

My own evidence is that sometimes a ping works and sometimes it doesn't, regardless of whether you use the automatic ping in MT or the manual ping. The problem is that Technorati is unreliable.
This gives an great advantage to people that ping often. For instance, blogs that write 10+ entries per day, are usual well indexed by Technorati. Of course, you don't need to do that, you can just manually ping them 10 times per day, but don't tell Sifry I said that.
And here's the ping form

I agree, they are a bit iffy sometimes. I just enjoy making up new tags. I'm really hoping more people start using the "Asshattery" tag.
